Cyavana–Kuśika Dialogue on Lineage, Conflict, and Transmission
atha abravīn nūpaḥ vākyam—śramo nāsty āvayor iha | viśrāntau ca prabhāvāt te ūcatuḥ tau tu bhārgavam ||
The verse highlights the moral and spiritual efficacy of tapas (ascetic power): a realized sage’s prabhāva can remove fatigue and grant genuine relief, and such power makes one’s word (satya-vākya) effective—what is spoken with spiritual authority is not empty but tends toward fulfillment.
King Nūpa and his companion address the Bhārgava sage Chyavana, reporting that they feel no tiredness and are fully refreshed due to his influence. In response, Chyavana rejoices and affirms that his earlier declaration will not be in vain and will certainly come to pass.
