यथाशक्ति यथोत्साहं भार्या तामभ्यरक्षत | महामुनि देवशर्मा नारियोंके चरित्रको जानते थे; अतः वे यथाशक्ति उत्साहपूर्वक उसकी रक्षा करते थे ।। पुरन्दरं च जानीते परस्त्रीकामचारिणम्
yathāśakti yathotsāhaṃ bhāryā tām abhyarakṣat | mahāmunir devaśarmā nārīṇāṃ ca caritraṃ jānīte; ataḥ sa yathāśakti utsāhapūrvakaṃ tasyā rakṣāṃ karoti sma || purandaraṃ ca jānīte parastrī-kāma-cāriṇam ||
ビーシュマは言った。「大牟尼デーヴァシャルマーは、力の及ぶ限り、また固い決意をもって、妻を厳重に守り続けた。人のふるまいの曲折と弱み—とりわけ女に関わる事柄—をよく知っていたゆえ、彼は持てる力と誠心のすべてで彼女を護ったのである。さらに彼は、プランダラ（インドラ）が他人の妻を欲してさまよう者であることも知っていた。」
