Aṣṭāvakra–Strī-saṃvāda: Dhṛti, hospitality, and a dispute on autonomy
vidito bhagavān asya kāryam āgamanasya yat | paśyainaṃ tvaṃ mahābhāgaṃ jvalantam iva tejasā |
The verse highlights discernment and rightful reception: a wise and powerful authority (Kubera) already understands the seeker’s intention, and his radiant presence signals legitimacy and auspiciousness. Ethically, it suggests approaching higher powers with clarity of purpose and respect, recognizing that true authority perceives motives beyond words.
Bhīṣma informs the listener that Kubera already knows why they have come. He then points out Kubera approaching, described as shining intensely—an arrival marked by visible splendor and majesty.
