मानुषत्वमनुप्राप्तो नैने शोचितुमरहसि । 'शोभने! ये महातेजस्वी वसु थे, वसिष्ठजीके शाप-दोषसे इन्हें मनुष्य-योनिमें आना पड़ा था। अतः इनके लिये शोक नहीं करना चाहिये

mānuṣatvam anuprāpto naine śocitum arhasi | śobhane ye mahātejasvī vasavaḥ te vasiṣṭhajī-śāpa-doṣeṇa manuṣya-yoniṃ prāptāḥ | ataḥ eteṣāṃ kṛte śoko na kartavyaḥ |

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。「いま彼らは人としての境涯に至ったのだから、あなたは彼らを嘆くべきではない。麗しき者よ、あの赫々たるヴァスたちは、ヴァシシュタの呪いによって生じた過失のゆえに、人間の胎に入ることを余儀なくされた。ゆえに、彼らのために悲しむのはふさわしくない。」
