दम्भो हादम्भो वैदम्भो वश्यो वशकर: कलि: । लोककर्ता पशुपतिर्महाकर्ता हनौषध:
vāyudeva uvāca | dambho ’dambho vaidambho vaśyo vaśakaraḥ kaliḥ | lokakartā paśupatiḥ mahākartā anauṣadhaḥ ||
ヴァーユは言った。彼は敵を鎮め伏せる者でありながら、誇示を離れている。飾り気なき者の親友であり、信愛する者には自ら従う者、また他を従わせる力を持つ者である。彼はカリ・ユガとしての時であり、諸世界の造り手であり、パシュパティ（Paśupati）—生きとし生けるものの主—である。五大元素をはじめ万有を組み立てる大創造者であり、食物や薬草への依存を超えた者でもある。
