इस प्रकार श्रीमहाभारत अनुशासनपर्वके अन्तर्गत दानधर्मपर्वमें मेघवाहनपर्वकी कथाविषयक सोलहवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ,प्रयत्नेनाधिगन्तव्यं धार्य च प्रयतात्मना । माड़ल्यं पौष्टिकं चैव रक्षोघ्नं पावनं महत्‌

iti prakāraṃ śrīmahābhārata anuśāsanaparvake antargata dānadharmaparvaṇi meghavāhanaparvaṇī kathāviṣayaka ṣoḍaśo 'dhyāyaḥ pūrṇaḥ | prayatnenādhigantavyaṃ dhāryaṃ ca prayatātmanā | māḍalyaṃ pauṣṭikaṃ caiva rakṣoghnaṃ pāvanaṃ mahat ||

かくして、『シュリー・マハーバーラタ』の「アヌシャーサナ・パルヴァ(教誡篇)」中、「ダーナ・ダルマ(布施の法)」の部において、「メーガヴァーハナ」の逸話を語る第十六章は完結した。教えはこうである――自らを制し、努めてこれを求め得て、慎み深く保持すべきである。これは安寧と滋養をもたらし、有害なる力を退け、大いに清めるという。ゆえに、布施と正しい行いの文脈において、とりわけダルマの道における価値は高い。
