Bhīṣma’s Yogic Departure, Royal Cremation, and Gaṅgā’s Lament
ya eṣa kathito rājan mayā sajjana-saṁnidhau | śaṅkarasyomayā sārdhaṁ saṁvādo dharma-saṁhitaḥ ||
The verse frames the preceding content as authoritative dharma-instruction: a dharma-aligned dialogue of Śiva and Umā, transmitted by Bhīṣma to the king in the presence of virtuous witnesses, emphasizing ethical legitimacy and careful transmission of sacred counsel.
Bhīṣma concludes or transitions by telling Yudhiṣṭhira that he has just narrated, before assembled good men, the dharma-related conversation that occurred between Śaṅkara and Umā.
