Kīrtana for the Removal of Impurity
yastu raudrasamācāraḥ sarvasattvabhayaṅkaraḥ | hastābhyāṃ yadi vā padabhyāṃ rajjvā daṇḍena vā punaḥ ||
The verse highlights the moral gravity of cruel, fear-inducing conduct: harming beings—by direct blows or by instruments—marks a person as violent in disposition, setting up an ethical warning against such behavior.
Śrīmaheśvara is describing a type of person characterized by raudra (fierce) behavior, listing concrete modes of harming—hands, feet, rope, staff—as part of a broader instruction on right conduct and the condemnation of cruelty.
