The verse emphasizes responsible transmission of sacred experience: extraordinary, ‘imperishable and inconceivable’ realizations gained through disciplined pilgrimage and ascetic life should be narrated truthfully and from the beginning for the welfare of the wider community, and conveyed to the highest moral authority (here, Śrī Kṛṣṇa).
A group of pilgrimage-devoted sages address a revered figure (invoked as ‘Lord’ and ‘sage’), requesting him to recount—starting from the beginning—the wondrous, inconceivable event they experienced on the Himālaya, and to report it for the benefit of the sages, specifically to Śrī Kṛṣṇa (as indicated by the Gita Press contextual gloss).
