यदि ते5हमनुग्राह्मो भ्रातृभिः सहितोडनघ । वक्तुमहसि नः प्रश्न॑ यत् त्वां पृच्छामि पार्थिव
yadi te 'ham anugrāhyo bhrātṛbhiḥ sahito 'nagha | vaktum arhasi naḥ praśnaṃ yat tvāṃ pṛcchāmi pārthiva, anagha ||
ユディシュティラは言った。「もし私が兄弟たちとともに、あなたのご慈愛に値するのであれば、罪なきお方よ。ならば王よ、これから私が問うその問いに、我ら皆のためにお答えください。」
युधिछिर उवाच

Yudhiṣṭhira formally addresses a revered, blameless king/authority figure and asks permission-like grace to pose a question, requesting a clear response meant to benefit the entire group of brothers.
