Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
तामब्रवीद्धसन् देवो भविता वै सुतस्तव
tām abravīd hasan devo bhavitā vai sutas tava | devi mama kṛpayā kevalaṃ yajñasambandhīyāyāś caru-dravasya pāna-mātreṇa pati-sahāyaṃ vināpi te putro bhaviṣyati—na saṃśayaḥ | sa ca tava vaṃśe tavaiva nāmnā yathā-kāmaṃ khyātiṃ prāpsyati ||
神なる者は微笑み、彼女に告げた。「汝にはまことに一子が生まれよう。おお女神よ、我が恩寵により、祭祀の供物たるチャル（caru）の液をただ飲むだけで、夫の助けなくしても子を得る—疑いはない。そして汝の家系において、その子は望むままに名声を得、汝自身の名を帯びるであろう。」
