Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ

Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony

वैशम्पायन उवाच एवमुक्‍त्वा तु भगवान्‌ गुणांस्तस्य महात्मन: । उपस्पृश्य शुचिर्भूत्वा कथयामास धीमत:

vaiśampāyana uvāca evam uktvā tu bhagavān guṇāṁs tasya mahātmanaḥ | upaspṛśya śucir bhūtvā kathayāmāsa dhīmataḥ ||

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。かく語り終えると、世尊はその大いなる魂の徳を説き明かした。ついでアーチャマナ(ācamana)の浄めを行い、儀礼上の清浄を得てから、智慧と分別をもって、至上主シヴァ(Śiva)の卓越した功徳を語り始め、後に続く讃嘆のために敬虔で律儀な調べを整えた。
