Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
anekarāvasaṅghuṣṭaḥ śvānekastutisaṃskṛtaḥ | sarvabhūtāntakaḥ sarvaḥ sarvalokapratiṣṭhitaḥ ||
The verse presents a theological-ethical vision: the ultimate reality is simultaneously praised in many ways, pervades all worlds as their inner foundation, and also functions as the inevitable end (antaka) of all beings—encouraging reverence, humility, and alignment with dharma in the face of mortality and cosmic order.
Vāsudeva is describing a supreme, all-pervading power/being using epithets: it is surrounded by loud tumult and many voices, receives diverse praises, brings all embodied life to its end, and remains established throughout all realms as the underlying presence.
