Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
अनेककटिपादश्न अनेकोदरवकक््त्रधृक् । अनेकपाणिपार्श्श्ष अनेकगणसंवृत:
aneka-kaṭi-pāda-śna anekodara-vaktra-dhṛk | aneka-pāṇi-pārśva aneka-gaṇa-saṁvṛtaḥ ||
ヴァースデーヴァは言った。「彼は多相の身である——腰と足は数多く、腹と顔は数え尽くせぬ。手と脇もまた無量であり、従者の群れが四方から彼を取り巻く。」文脈においてこの偈は、多肢多臂の超人的な威容への畏怖を呼び起こし、世の権勢と形相は移ろうが、真の敬虔は万有を包む神聖なる秩序へと向けられるべきだ、という倫理の教えを際立たせる。
