Conduct of the Virtuous Wife

तपस्विनो धृतिमत: प्रमोद: समुपागत: । एतत्‌ पृच्छामि ते विद्वन्नभिवाद्य प्रणम्य च

bhīṣma uvāca | tapasvino dhṛtimataḥ pramodaḥ samupāgataḥ | etat pṛcchāmi te vidvann abhivādya praṇamya ca |

ビーシュマは言った。「あなたは苦行者にして忍耐堅固、自己をよく制するお方であるのに、いま忽ち歓喜が訪れた。ゆえに、博学なるお方よ、私は礼を述べて拝し、問う。いかなる理由で今しがた微笑まれたのか。その笑いはいかにしてあなたの内に起こったのか。思いがけぬ喜びの因をお示しください。」
