The verse uses auspicious, refined sounds (swans and ornaments) to evoke an ordered, cultured setting—supporting the Anuśāsana Parva’s broader ethical atmosphere where dharma is taught amid ideals of harmony, restraint, and civilized conduct.
Bhīṣma is describing a scene where people become repeatedly aware of lively movement and awakening, signaled by the calls of kala-haṃsa swans and the melodious jingling of anklets and girdles—an evocative sensory detail within his ongoing discourse.
