(Upadeśa-doṣa-prasaṅgaḥ) — The Risk of Misapplied Counsel

Educational Q&A

That the culmination of learning is an inner growth toward discriminative wisdom (Sāṅkhya): a deepening delight in truth and discernment, which supports ethical steadiness and self-mastery.

Bhīṣma is describing a person’s intellectual and spiritual development: beyond proficiency in scriptural and auxiliary disciplines, the individual’s supreme inclination increasingly turns toward Sāṅkhya—reflective insight into reality and the self.
