saṃmṛjya copalipyātha ullikhyoddhṛtya vedikām / abhyukṣyopasamādhāya vahniṃ tatraḥ vidhānataḥ
場を掃き清め、さらに塗り固めたのち、ヴェーディカー(祭壇の台)を刻み定めて整える。水を灑い清め、定められた作法に従って、そこに聖火(ヴァフニ)を安置する。

This verse stresses that the rite begins with physical and ritual purification—cleaning, plastering, and consecrating the altar—so the sacred fire is established on a properly sanctified base.
