(ただの)知識を誇る者と(ただの)ヴェーダ学を誇る者とは、互いに常に論争していた。だが二度生まれの者たちは、不相応な師に交わる過失ゆえに、ヴェーダをただの「水」にまで貶めてしまう――ムラーリ(ヴィシュヌ)が住まうとされるその場所においてさえ。
