Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.218: Viśvedevas invocation and deva-portion within śrāddha sequence
This verse shows that invoking the Viśvedevas is done to secure divine satisfaction for the rite, using a clear mantra and a prescribed offering (yavodaka) given via Brāhmaṇas.
It specifies that barley-water is to be given into the hands of Brāhmaṇas, and that the offering is accompanied by the mantra “oṃ viśvedevā… prīyantām,” followed by thrice repetition of “oṃ devatābhyaḥ.”
When performing traditional worship or ancestral/ritual observances, follow a disciplined sequence: intention (prīyantām), offering through qualified ritual agents, and consistent mantra repetition rather than improvisation.
