This verse preserves a dharmic lineage of rulers and sages, anchoring later teachings in a recognized Purāṇic historical framework.
It does not describe the soul’s post-death journey directly; it functions as genealogical narration, establishing the succession of figures within the Purāṇic account.
It encourages respect for ancestry and continuity of dharma—living so one’s actions strengthen the ethical legacy passed to future generations.
