Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is a narration about the Personality of Godhead and the devotees of the Lord like the Pāṇḍavas. The narration of the Personality of Godhead and His devotees is absolute in itself, and thus to hear it with a devotional attitude is to associate with the Lord and constant companions of the Lord. By the process of hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam one can attain the highest perfection of life, namely going back home, back to Godhead, without failure.
This verse says that faithful hearing of the Pandavas’ purifying and auspicious departure awakens devotion to Hari, and that devotion leads to spiritual perfection.
Because the Pandavas were bhagavat-priya—dear to the Lord—and hearing about the lives and final journey of such devotees sanctifies the listener and strengthens devotion.
Practice regular śravaṇam: hear or read Bhagavatam with sincerity and faith, focusing on devotees’ examples; this steadily develops devotion to Hari and guides one toward life’s highest perfection.
