Pradyumna’s Abduction, Mahā-māyā, and the Slaying of Śambara
देवकी वसुदेवश्च कृष्णरामौ तथा स्त्रिय: । दम्पती तौ परिष्वज्य रुक्मिणी च ययुर्मुदम् ॥ ३८ ॥
devakī vasudevaś ca kṛṣṇa-rāmau tathā striyaḥ dampatī tau pariṣvajya rukmiṇī ca yayur mudam
デーヴァキー、ヴァスデーヴァ、クリシュナ、バララーマ、そして宮殿の女たち—とりわけ王妃ルクミニー—はその若い夫婦を抱きしめ、喜びに満ちた。
This verse describes the family’s affectionate embrace of the newly married couple and Rukmiṇī’s joy, highlighting the auspicious happiness surrounding Kṛṣṇa’s marriage.
In the narrative, Kṛṣṇa has brought Rukmiṇī as His bride; Devakī and Vasudeva, together with Balarāma and the women, express parental and familial affection by embracing the couple.
It emphasizes honoring sacred relationships with warmth and support—celebrating virtuous unions, offering blessings, and strengthening family bonds with genuine affection.
