Akrūra in Hastināpura: Kuntī’s Lament and Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Moral Instruction
api smaranti naḥ saumya pitarau bhrātaraś ca me bhaginyau bhrātṛ-putrāś ca jāmayaḥ sakhya eva ca
This verse shows affectionate remembrance and concern for relatives as natural and dharmic, even amid divine pastimes—Kuntī asks whether Kṛṣṇa’s family and friends still remember them.
When Kṛṣṇa comes to meet the Pāṇḍavas, Kuntī—being His aunt—asks about His parents, siblings, and relatives in Dvārakā/Mathurā line, expressing maternal affection and maintaining family connection.
Nurture relationships with sincere remembrance, inquiry, and care—especially toward elders, siblings, and extended family—while keeping devotion central.
