The Brāhmaṇas’ Wives Blessed (Brāhmaṇa-patnī-prasāda) — Ritualism Humbled by Bhakti
hitvānyān bhajate yaṁ śrīḥ pāda-sparśāśayāsakṛt svātma-doṣāpavargeṇa tad-yācñā jana-mohinī
The supreme master of the goddess of fortune herself obviously does not have to beg for food, as pointed out here by the brāhmaṇas, who are finally manifesting real spiritual intelligence.
This verse says that Lakṣmī repeatedly longs to touch and serve the Lord’s lotus feet, giving up all others—showing the unique supremacy of His feet as the ultimate shelter.
Because people commonly equate Lakṣmī with worldly fortune and status; her intense longing for the Lord’s feet reveals a devotion beyond material gain, which confuses those who see spirituality through material lenses.
Treat success and comfort as secondary, and make steady devotion—service, humility, and seeking the Lord’s shelter—your primary goal, even when others misunderstand your priorities.
