Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma’s Forest Games and the Slaying of Pralamba
सरित्सर:प्रस्रवणोर्मिवायुना कह्लारकुञ्जोत्पलरेणुहारिणा । न विद्यते यत्र वनौकसां दवो निदाघवह्न्यर्कभवोऽतिशाद्वले ॥ ५ ॥
sarit-saraḥ-prasravaṇormi-vāyunā kahlāra-kañjotpala-reṇu-hāriṇā na vidyate yatra vanaukasāṁ davo nidāgha-vahny-arka-bhavo ’ti-śādvale
湖や川の波の上を渡る風は、蓮や睡蓮などの花粉を運び去って一帯を冷やし、ヴリンダーヴァナ全域を涼やかにした。ゆえに住民は夏の烈日の熱や山火事の灼熱に悩まされず、瑞々しい青草が豊かに茂っていた。
This verse describes Vṛndāvana as filled with rivers, lakes, and streams whose rippling waters create cool breezes carrying lotus pollen, making the land lush and peaceful.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī speaks this narration to King Parīkṣit while describing Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma’s forest pastimes and the setting of Vṛndāvana.
It encourages a devotional mindset that sees sacredness in nature, cultivates calmness through contemplation of Kṛṣṇa’s līlā, and values environments that support purity, peace, and spiritual remembrance.
