रोहिण्यास्तनय: प्रोक्तो राम: सङ्कर्षणस्त्वया । देवक्या गर्भसम्बन्ध: कुतो देहान्तरं विना ॥ ८ ॥
rohiṇyās tanayaḥ prokto rāmaḥ saṅkarṣaṇas tvayā devakyā garbha-sambandhaḥ kuto dehāntaraṁ vinā
おおシュカデーヴァ・ゴースヴァーミーよ。あなたはすでに、第二のチャトゥル・ヴ्यूーハのサンカルシャナが、ローヒニーの子バララーマとして顕現したと述べられました。もし身体の移し替えが無いのなら、どうして彼は最初デーヴァキーの胎内にあり、その後ローヒニーの胎内にあったのでしょうか。どうかこの奥義をお説きください。
Here is a question particularly directed at understanding Balarāma, who is Saṅkarṣaṇa Himself. Balarāma is well known as the son of Rohiṇī, yet it is also known that He was the son of Devakī. Parīkṣit Mahārāja wanted to understand the mystery of Balarāma’s being the son of both Devakī and Rohiṇī.
This verse raises the point that although Balarama is described as Rohini’s son, he is also linked to Devaki’s womb—implying a divine transfer of the embryo without an ordinary change of body.
Because Shukadeva has indicated Balarama as Rohini’s son, Parikshit seeks clarity on how Devaki is still involved—prompting the explanation of the miraculous womb-transfer arranged by the Lord’s internal potency.
