स पृष्ट: पाण्डुपुत्रेण प्रीयमाणो महामना: । उवाच श्लक्ष्णया वाचा हर्षयन्निव पाण्डवान्,पाणए्डुपुत्र युधिष्ठिरके इस प्रकार पूछनेपर महामना महर्षि लोमश बड़े प्रसन्न हुए और अपनी मधुर वाणीद्वारा पाण्डवोंका हर्ष बढ़ाते हुए-से बोले--
sa pṛṣṭaḥ pāṇḍuputreṇa prīyamāṇo mahāmanāḥ | uvāca ślakṣṇayā vācā harṣayann iva pāṇḍavān ||
Questioned by the son of Pāṇḍu, the great-souled sage—well pleased—spoke in gentle, polished words, as though increasing the joy and confidence of the Pāṇḍavas. The verse frames the reply as compassionate instruction: counsel is best received when offered with kindness and goodwill.
