Pulastya said: “This account is auspicious; it is purifying and supremely heaven-bestowing. It is meritorious and delightful—cleansing, in full accord with dharma, and of the highest excellence.”
पुलस्त्य उवाच
The verse teaches that hearing or recounting the Gaṅgā’s greatness is itself a dharmic act: it purifies, generates merit, and is praised as a supreme means toward spiritual uplift (including the promise of heaven).
Pulastya, in the course of describing the Gaṅgā’s greatness (Gaṅgā-māhātmya), offers a formal eulogy of the discourse itself, emphasizing its auspiciousness, purity, and alignment with dharma.
