Pulastya said: “There too are the supreme seers headed by Sanatkumāra, and the stainless Brahma-seers headed by Aṅgiras. After this, O king, one should go to the Prayāga sacred ford, praised by great sages—where Brahmā and other gods, the directions and their guardians, the protectors of the worlds, the Sādhyas, the Pitṛs honored by the worlds, sages such as Sanatkumāra, pure Brahma-seers such as Aṅgiras, as well as Nāgas, Suparṇas, Siddhas, the Sun, rivers, the ocean, Gandharvas, Apsarases, and Lord Viṣṇu together with Brahmā are said to dwell. There are three fire-altars there, and between them the Gaṅgā—endowed with the merit of all tīrthas—flows swiftly. The world-purifying Yamunā, daughter of the Sun and famed in the three worlds, meets the Gaṅgā there. The space between Gaṅgā and Yamunā is regarded as the ‘hip’ (jaghana) of the earth.”
