Dhaumya’s Enumeration of Eastern Tīrthas

Prācī-diś Tīrtha-kathana

पिता पितामहश्नैव सर्वे च प्रपितामहा: । पितामहपुरोगाश्च देवा: सर्षिगणा नृूप

pitā pitāmahaś caiva sarve ca prapitāmahāḥ | pitāmahapurogāś ca devāḥ sarṣigaṇā nṛpa ||

Pulastya said: “O king, your father, your grandfather, and all your great-grandfathers—as well as the gods accompanied by hosts of seers, with the grandsire at their head—(are witnesses/participants in this matter).” The verse underscores the moral weight of lineage and the oversight of divine and sage authority, implying that one’s conduct is measured not only by personal desire but by ancestral duty and cosmic order.
