Educational Q&A

Ritual purification at a tīrtha is presented as effective when joined with inner discipline: conquering anger and controlling the senses. Such self-mastery, combined with bathing/ācamana at Vimocana, frees one from the moral taints connected with improper acceptance of gifts (pratigraha).

A speaker (Ghulastya) describes the merit of the sacred place called Vimocana: by bathing there and performing the water-rite, a self-controlled person is said to be released from faults incurred through pratigraha.
