Adhyāya 8 — Vidura’s Return and the Kaurava Counsel (Āraṇyaka-parva)
yathā hi viduraḥ prājño yathā bhīṣmo yathā vayam | yathā kṛpaś ca droṇaś ca tathā sādhur bhavān api ||
“For just as wise Vidura is, just as Bhīṣma is, and just as we are; and just as Kṛpa and Droṇa are—so too are you a man of good conduct. You also share that same noble disposition.”
व्यास उवाच
True nobility is recognized through steady wisdom and upright conduct; the verse affirms that the addressed person shares the same ethical stature as revered elders known for discernment and propriety.
Vyāsa speaks in a consoling and affirming tone, praising the listener’s character by placing him alongside respected figures—Vidura, Bhīṣma, Kṛpa, and Droṇa—thereby strengthening moral resolve and trust in counsel.
