एकाकिनैव सुमहन्नलेन पृथिवीपते । दुःखमासादितं घोरें प्राप्तश्चाभ्युदय: पुन:,पृथ्वीपते! राजा नलने अकेले ही यह भयंकर और महान्‌ दु:ख प्राप्त किया था; उन्हें पुनः अभ्युदयकी प्राप्ति हुई

ekākināiva sumahannalena pṛthivīpate | duḥkham āsāditaṃ ghore prāptaś cābhyudayaḥ punaḥ ||

Bṛhadaśva said: “O lord of the earth, King Nala, though all alone, fell into a dreadful and overwhelming misery; yet afterward he attained prosperity again.”
