O lord of the people, just as Damayantī had instructed, all those brāhmaṇas went to various places and caused her message to be proclaimed there and there—spreading her carefully framed words among the people in the hope of restoring what had been lost and setting right the course of events.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights responsible speech and social cooperation: a truthful, purposeful message—entrusted to reliable messengers (brāhmaṇas)—is disseminated for a righteous aim, supporting restoration of order and reunion through dharmic means rather than force.

Damayantī has given specific instructions about a message to be announced. The brāhmaṇas follow her directions and travel to different places, publicly proclaiming her words so that the intended person(s) may hear and respond.
