ऋतुपर्णस्य विदर्भयात्रा-निश्चयः तथा बाहुकस्य हयपरिक्षा (Ṛtuparṇa’s resolve to go to Vidarbha and Bāhuka’s examination of horses)

तच्छुत्वा वचन तस्य सुदेवस्य विशाम्पते | सुनन्दा शोधयामास पिप्लुप्रच्छादनं मलम्‌,युधिष्ठिर! सुदेवका यह वचन सुनकर सुनन्दाने दमयन्तीके ललाटवर्ती चिह्नको ढँकनेवाली मैल धो दी

Transliteration

tac chrutvā vacanaṁ tasya sudevasya viśāmpate | sunandā śodhayāmāsa piplupra-cchādanaṁ malam, yudhiṣṭhira |

Translation

O lord of the people, having heard the words of Sudeva, Sunandā set about cleansing away the grime that concealed the mark upon the forehead—so that the true identity and dignity of the person might no longer remain hidden. Thus, through a simple act of care and attentiveness, what was obscured by neglect was restored to clarity.
