तिष्ठ त्वं स्थावर इव यावदेव नलः क्वचित् । इतो नेता हि तत्र त्वं शापान्मोक्ष्यसि मत्कृतात्
tiṣṭha tvaṃ sthāvara iva yāvadeva nalaḥ kvacit | ito netā hi tatra tvaṃ śāpān mokṣyasi matkṛtāt ||
Bṛhadaśva said: “Stay here, unmoving like a tree, until Nala comes to this place. From here you will lead him onward; and by doing so you will be released from the curse that I laid upon you.”
ब॒हदश्व उवाच
The verse highlights moral causality and restoration: a wrong (a curse) is not treated as final when one acts rightly. Service and guidance offered at the proper time become the means of release, showing that ethical action can transform consequences and open a path to redemption.
Bṛhadaśva instructs the addressed person to remain motionless at that spot until King Nala arrives. When Nala comes, this person must guide him onward; fulfilling that role will free the person from the curse previously imposed by Bṛhadaśva.
