Karkoṭaka’s Counsel and Nala’s Concealment

damayanty api taṁ duṣṭam upalabhya pativratā | tīvraroṣasamāviṣṭā prajajvāleva manyunā ||

Even Damayantī—steadfast in her wifely vow—recognized his wickedness; seized by intense anger, she blazed up as if kindled by the fire of wrath. The verse highlights how fidelity (pativratā-dharma) does not mean moral blindness: discernment of wrongdoing can rightly awaken righteous indignation.
