दमयन्त्याः व्याकुलता — स्वयंवरसंनिपातः — देवदूतयाचनम्

Damayantī’s Distress, Proclamation of the Svayaṃvara, and the Gods’ Request

तेषां द्रक्ष्यसि पाउ्चालि गात्राणि पृथिवीतले । क्रव्यादे: कृष्पमाणानि भक्ष्यमाणानि चासकृत्‌,'पांचालराजकुमारि! तुम देखोगी कि उन दुष्टोंके शरीर इस पृथ्वीपर मांसाहारी गीदड़- गीध आदि पशु-पक्षियोंद्वारा बार-बार घसीटे और खाये जा रहे हैं

teṣāṁ drakṣyasi pāñcāli gātrāṇi pṛthivītale | kravyādaiḥ kṛṣyamāṇāni bhakṣyamāṇāni cāsakṛt ||

Yudhiṣṭhira said: “O Pāñcālī, you will see their bodies lying upon the earth—dragged about and repeatedly devoured by flesh-eating creatures such as jackals and vultures.” In this grim prophecy, he frames the inevitable moral consequence of wrongdoing: those who violate dharma invite ruin and a dishonourable end.
