Educational Q&A

The verse foregrounds satya (truthfulness) as a dharmic act: Arjuna frames his forthcoming statement as truth and calls the cosmic order—directions and their presiding deities—as witnesses, emphasizing accountability and moral seriousness in speech.

Arjuna addresses a woman respectfully with epithets (“varārohe,” “anindite”) and prepares to disclose something important. To underscore sincerity, he invokes the directions and their deities as hearers/witnesses to his words.
