Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Sañjaya on Arjuna’s Indraloka report and the political consequences
तत्र द्वारमनुप्राप्ता द्वारस्थैश्व निवेदिता । अर्जुनस्य नरश्रेष्ठ उर्वशी शुभलोचना,नरश्रेष्ठ जनमेजय! महलके द्वारपर पहुँचकर वह ठहर गयी। उस समय द्वारपालोंने अर्जुनको उसके आगमनकी सूचना दी। तब सुन्दर नेत्रोंवाली उर्वशी रात्रिमें अर्जुनके अत्यन्त मनोहर तथा उज्ज्वल भवनमें उपस्थित हुई। राजन्! अर्जुन सशंक हृदयसे उसके सामने गये
tatra dvāram anuprāptā dvārasthaiś ca niveditā | arjunasya naraśreṣṭha urvaśī śubhalocanā | naraśreṣṭha janamejaya mahālakasya dvāraparaṃ prāpya tiṣṭhatī sma | tadā dvārapālair arjunāya tasyā āgamanam ākhyātam | tataḥ śubhalocanā urvaśī rātrau arjunasya atyanta-manohare ujjvale ca bhavane samupasthitā | rājan arjunaḥ saśaṅka-hṛdayas tasyāḥ samīpam agacchat |
Vaiśampāyana said: Having reached the doorway, the fair-eyed Urvaśī was announced by the gatekeepers to Arjuna. O best of men, Janamejaya, she halted at the entrance of the palace; then the doorkeepers informed Arjuna of her arrival. Thereupon, in the night, Urvaśī entered Arjuna’s exceedingly charming and radiant residence. The king Arjuna, his heart filled with apprehension, went to meet her—signaling the ethical tension that will soon arise between desire, propriety, and self-restraint.
