cirāyamāṇe nakule kuntīputro yudhiṣṭhiraḥ | abravīd bhrātaraṃ vīraṃ sahadevam ariṃdamam ||
When Nakula was delayed for a long time, Kuntī’s son Yudhiṣṭhira spoke to his heroic brother Sahadeva, the subduer of foes—prompting him to act in response to the growing concern. The moment underscores responsible leadership: when a duty-bound companion does not return, one must not remain indifferent but must take measured steps to ascertain the cause.

The verse highlights accountable leadership and fraternal duty: when a companion entrusted with a task is overdue, one should respond thoughtfully—seeking the cause and ensuring safety—rather than remaining passive.
During the forest episode associated with the Yaksha, Nakula does not return for a long time. Yudhiṣṭhira, concerned, addresses Sahadeva and directs him to respond to the situation, setting up the sequence of brothers going in search.
