तस्या: कौतूहलं त्वासीन्मन्त्रं प्रति नराधिप । आह्वानमकरोत् साथ तस्य देवस्य भाविनी,नरेश्वर! उन्हें देखकर कुन्तीके मनमें अपने मन्त्रकी शक्तिकी परीक्षा करनेके लिये कौतूहल पैदा हुआ। तब उस सुन्दरी राजकन्याने सूर्यदेवका आवाहन किया
tasyāḥ kautūhalaṃ tv āsīn mantraṃ prati narādhipa | āhvānam akarot sātha tasya devasya bhāvinī ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: O king, Kuntī’s heart was stirred with curiosity about the power of her mantra. Seeking to test it, the noble princess then invoked that god—Sūrya himself—thereby setting in motion a moment whose consequences would shape her life and the moral tensions of her future.
वैशग्पायन उवाच
