अयं वत्से महाभागो ब्राह्मणो वस्तुमिच्छति । मम गेहे मया चास्य तथेत्येवं प्रतिश्रुतम्,“वत्से! ये महाभाग ब्राह्मण मेरे घरमें निवास करना चाहते हैं। मैंने “तथास्तुट कहकर इन्हें अपने यहाँ ठहरानेकी प्रतिज्ञा कर ली है
ayaṃ vatse mahābhāgo brāhmaṇo vastum icchati | mama gehe mayā cāsya tathety evaṃ pratiśrutam ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: “My child, this fortunate Brahmin wishes to reside here. In my own house I have already given him my word—saying, ‘So be it’—and thus I have pledged to host him.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma through hospitality and truthfulness: once a promise is given—especially to a guest seeking shelter—it becomes an ethical obligation to honor it.
Vaiśaṃpāyana reports that a noble Brahmin wants to stay in the speaker’s home, and the speaker has already consented and formally promised to host him.
