Ajñātavāsa-saṅkalpaḥ — Yudhiṣṭhira’s Resolve and Dhaumya’s Exempla on Concealment

evaṁ tasyai varaṁ dattvā dharmarājaḥ pratāpavān | nivartayitvā sāvitrīṁ sa svam eva bhavanaṁ yayau ||

Thus, after granting Savitrī the boon, the mighty Dharmarāja (Yama) caused her to turn back from following him and then departed to his own abode. The episode underscores that steadfast virtue and truthful, dharma-aligned speech can move even the lord of justice to show grace, while the cosmic order is preserved through a lawful boon rather than arbitrary reversal.
