Dyumatsena said: “I am in no way capable of telling you, ‘Break your vow.’ What is fitting for a person like me to say is this: ‘Carry it through—complete your vow without obstruction.’”
One should not counsel the violation of a solemn vow; dharma is upheld by encouraging steadfast completion of one’s vrata, especially when obstacles or temptations arise.
Dyumatsena responds to a situation involving a vow and refuses to advise breaking it; instead, he offers morally appropriate guidance—urging the listener to fulfill the vow to completion.
