Adhyāya 290: Kuntī’s Mantra-Parīkṣā and the Appearance of Sūrya (कुन्ती–सूर्यसंवादः)
ससर्जुन्द्रजित: क्रोधाच्छालस्कन्धं तथाड्रद: । बलवान् वालिनन्दन अंगदने इन्द्रजितके उस गदाप्रहारकी कोई परवा न करके ऊपर क्रोधपूर्वक साखूका तना उठाकर दे मारा
sasarjendrajitaḥ krodhāc chālaskandhaṃ tathā dradaḥ | balavān vālinandana aṅgadaḥ na indrajitke usa gadāprahārakī koī parvā na karke ūpar krodhapūrvak sākhūkā tanā uṭhākar de mārā |
Mārkaṇḍeya said: Enraged, Indrajit hurled a stout trunk of a śāla tree. Yet the mighty Aṅgada, son of Vāli, paying no heed to that blow of the mace, lifted a sākhū trunk in wrath and struck back. The episode underscores the warrior’s resolve and the peril of anger that escalates violence in battle.
