Sāvitrī’s Dialogue with Yama and the Restoration of Satyavān
मारुतेन सुशीतेन सुखेनामृतगन्धिना । सेव्यमानो वने तस्मिन् जगाम मनसा प्रियाम्,उस वनमें अमृतकी-सी सुगन्ध लिये मन्द गतिसे प्रवाहित होनेवाली सुखद शीतल वायुका स्पर्श पाकर श्रीरामचन्द्रजी मन-ही-मन अपनी प्रिया सीताका चिन्तन करने लगे
mārutena suśītena sukhena amṛtagandhinā | sevyamāno vane tasmin jagāma manasā priyām ||
Mārkaṇḍeya said: In that forest, as he was gently attended by the pleasant, cool breeze—fragrant as nectar—Rāma’s mind drifted inward to his beloved, and he began to dwell upon Sītā. The verse highlights how even in a calm and wholesome environment, the heart naturally turns toward faithful love and remembrance, revealing the ethical depth of constancy amid hardship.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse underscores steadfast affection and inner fidelity: even when nature offers comfort and calm, a virtuous person’s mind remains anchored in loyal remembrance of the beloved, reflecting constancy and emotional discipline amid separation.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes Rāma in the forest experiencing a soothing, cool, nectar-scented breeze; touched by this gentle comfort, Rāma’s thoughts turn inward and he begins to contemplate his beloved Sītā.
