Vaiśampāyana said: “Let it proceed according to due rule, with all sides restrained from taking away (what is meant for the rite). O Bhārata, let the ground of your sacrificial enclosure be ploughed with that very plough; and, O best of kings, upon that ploughed ground let a sacrifice be duly begun—well-consecrated by proper rites, abundant in food and drink, and open to all.” The passage emphasizes dharmic order in ritual: the yajña must be conducted lawfully, without coercive appropriation, and with generous public hospitality.

Educational Q&A

Ritual action must align with dharma: it should be performed according to proper rule (yathā-nyāyam), without wrongful seizure or coercion (haranivāritaḥ), and with generous, inclusive hospitality—food and drink provided and access open to all.

Vaiśampāyana reports instructions for commencing a yajña: the sacrificial ground in the yajña-maṇḍapa is to be ploughed with the specified plough, and then the sacrifice is to be initiated on that prepared ground with correct consecrations and ample provisions, conducted in an orderly and publicly accessible manner.
