Jayadratha Approaches Draupadī in the Forest

Hospitality, Persuasion, and Reproach

शूराश्ष बलवन्तश्न संयुगेष्वपलायिन:

śūrāś ca balavantaś ca saṃyugeṣv apalāyinaḥ

Karna declares that they are true heroes—strong and steadfast—who do not turn their backs in the clash of battle. The line upholds the warrior-ethic that courage is proven by remaining firm under danger rather than seeking safety through flight.
